Prince Ndawula David has over the years developed into a celebrated self styled pianist commonly known as “King D’ Wizzy”. King D is a master of purity, not only in terms of hitting all notes accurately, but also in terms of his style. I think he believes in moderateness- nothing is in excess. He plays with a beautiful singing tone. He purposely enriches & thickens the tone & using such a flowing tempo that is never too fast, he does not try to impress the listeners with exaggerated dynamics & emotion display, or with fast tempo or extreme volumes. His playing is simply a sentimental feeling. He conquers his audience by his subtlety, sublimity, naturalness & perfect technical control.
Every one of his notes is highly polished. One can hear how carefully he transcends a piece & listening to his performance makes one feel being led through some sort of adventure. He seems to be always striving to make his point clear.Oh, don’t confuse this analytical approach with many super intellectuals calculated, “profound”, pedantic playing!! This guy is definitely on such a unique higher level
